Memorial Day

After a rocky weekend that resulted in my yarking on myself, I'm working from home today.  Memorial Day is not celebrated here, they have very few holidays here.  However, I have plenty to do.  Paperwork, emails, and packing.  Lots of packing.

Sunday, I spent recovering from the what I'll refer to as "the debacle" on Saturday until about 2:30.  Forced myself to get up and get ready to meet my team at N's house.  OMG, I was dragging, not feeling well at ALL!  But, I made it and rallied.  A few glasses of wine and I was feeling great!  I was a little concerned there for a while.  N, T and D prepared a wonderful meal of lamb, new potatoes, bread, slads and just about anything you wanted to drink.  N's house is so unique, his wife is very creative.  I should have taken some pictures.  Oh well.  Also, M and her hubby G joined us, it was a really fun afternoon.  Got in around 9:30 pm.

Now,  I'll tell you about "the debacle".  (EARMUFFS, PARENTS)   Went to a party at one of the other ISPs house Saturday night.  I'd eaten a light lunch that day and went shopping at the bazaar with M and Yore.  So, I get to the party at 5pm.  Promptly start drinking beer.  They were making food, but by that time I was in no mood to eat....but I had some salad and a piece of steak.  Then, the tequila was brought out.  THEN, after that, I had some vodka with the drivers.  (Who were not on duty, btw.)  The last thing I remember was sitting on the couch playing with the music and the next thing I know I'm waking up in a puddle.  NOT GOOD.  headed to the bathroom, cleaned myself up and went to hide in a back room.  Finally, later that morning emerged to slink out of the house and catch a cab home.  Nobody there knew what I had done until I got up the first time.  Thankfully, they don't really care and were more concerned that I was okay, which I was...just mortified.  You have no idea how much they drink until you participate.  Everytime I turned around I was handed a shot glass.  Oh well, it's not a good assignment until you embarass yourself.

Finally,  the mosquitos here are brutal.  They leave large red welts on me that itch like no tomorrow.  They like my arms and feet.  I even have a bite on the palm of my hand.....
