Food Everywhere

For a culture that has limited resources, they sure do have a lot to celebrate.  And, they celebrate with food.  I'm trying to reduce my size, but everywhere I go in this plant there is some sort of sweet to celebrate a birthday, the onset of lent or some other holiday.  I just had a pancake, which is more similar to a crepe or what we Scandinavians call lefse.  However, the taste was similar to a pancake, rather than the potato/lefse taste.

Since I've been here, I've had cake three times.  2 birthday's and one return to work from sick leave.  There was one other birthday as well, but I skipped those festivities as I was on a conference call.  Everyone said I'd have a problem with the food here and digestive issues.  Thus far, I've been doing well.  Except for the occasional heart burn from foods that are too rich.  I tend to avoid those foods.

And, btw...I have lost some pounds.  I'm wearing a pair of work pants that were pretty tight when I left the US.  I could even stand to wear them with a belt but I didn't.  I don't see a difference or feel lighter, but I know that something has shifted.  Maybe if friends or family saw me they'd notice.  I sure don't.  That bugs me.
