Uzbekistan Trip Musings:
1. Humidity on airplanes is nonexistent. I knew this before but being sick made it all the more worse. I will say that Uzbeki air wasn’t as bad as Delta.
2. Window seats are 1.5 inches narrower than the aisle seats in Business Elite. Wish I had known that beforehand.
3. Flight attendants WANT you to drink. Drinking = pass out = not bugging them. My flight attendant refilled my wine class almost every time I took a drink.
4. Uzbeki Air gave business class iPads to play with. They had movies, games, etc. on them. They may be a less modern airline when it comes to planes but they want their customers occupied!
5. My nose stopped running like a faucet with about 2 hours to go left in my second flight. I used over a box of tissues and my nose is RAW. I was re-using snot rags. NOT something I normally do!
6. Frankfurt airport is CONFUSING. There are no signs and you have to go through security BEFORE you can talk to an agent to get your ticket onward to Uzbekistan.
7. Thankfully, there is no rush to get the plane off the ground in Frankfurt, otherwise I would have MISSED the plane due to my confusion. We left about an hour late.
8. Due to the over-serving by the flight attendant, I peed on the airplanes 4 times. I hate those tiny bathrooms so this was a fete for me. Only once was there turbulence while I was in there. Oh, and guys still miss while on planes. The floor = NASTY.
9. Oddly enough, both flights were relatively empty. Never seen that before. Steerage only had 45 people in it. Business class was hardly full.
10. Uzbeki flight attendants are WORLD CLASS at twisting men’s arms to buy duty free items. They wrangled the guy next to me for 20 minutes. He ended up over-buying. J They didn’t even ask me, the sickie on the plane! J
11. Business class flight attendants don’t care if you “stow your stuff” I was able to keep both my purse and backpack with me through take off and landings. Guess you pay enough to knock yourself out with your own crap.
12. The short ribs for dinner on the Delta flight were awesome, the parsnip puree, not so much. I don’t eat cooked carrots. After that, I didn’t eat much. Fear of going # 2 on the plane and I was trying to sleep/avoid the other nasty food. I drank lots of water though. They had ice cream for dessert. Again, I declined. Didn't need the fear of....well, reference the above statement.
13. FREE WI-FI Internet in the rooms here….America can take note of that…$13.95 for 24 hours…BAH!
14. I went to bed watching Nacho Libre. Ugh. LOL.
Anyway, this weekend I will probably start a blog and start posting pictures of my new “home” and whatnot. Also, it’ll be easier for you all to keep up with me and me not sending 20 million emails saying the same things. Obviously, yes, I’m up very early here. It’s going to take a few days to adjust. I can honestly say the fights were still brutal, no matter what class you’re sitting in. But, thus far…worth it. I miss my kitties already, however they’ll get over it. Plus, they have a whole new world to explore in the Red Elephant (my parents house.)
I'll talk to you all soon. As you can see I can text, play words with friends and play on Facebook....oh wait, wasn't I here for work? LOL.
I am RIDICULOUSLY jealous! Even though you are there for work I hope you have a fabulous time. Post lots of picture and tell us about EVERYTHING. I just got my passport in the mail the other day and plan on heading over seas sometime in the next year.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I've been to Ireland, England and Scotland thus far. I loved it. It's much different in a country that doesn't speak primarily english. It's Russian around here. I'll do my best to keep you posted!
