So, D and I are trying to book our hotel rooms for Samarkand tomorrow night. We made the reservation online and then she called to confirm. They then told her that she needed to go to X travel agent and pay for the room today. In Tashkent. We have to pre-pay for the room in cash, in Tashkent. For our trip to Samarkand tomorrow. WTH? Not to mention getting the train tickets was an adventure as well. Not nearly as bad as getting airline tickets, but still a pain. I feel so bad for her. At least she gets to do it during work hours. Wow. I sent her off with US dollars and my passport just in case....you never know around here. Wow. That's all I can say.
