Okay, Here we go

Okay,  I'll give you the description of my weekend first, then start adding pictures with captions.  It's gonna take a while.....

Friday,  D and I were so excited to go that work was, well, a bother.  So, 5:15 or so, headed off to the airport.  We were in and checked in for the flight in about 10 minutes.  She was able to talk the agent into giving us nice exit row seats because I was American and going to Khiva for the first time.  This "baby" prop plane was relatively new.  So, we chatted and laughed the whole way there.  We probably landed around 8:45pm or so.  We got to her brothers house and were greeted by the whole family.  Then, we sat down to eat.  Mmmm, wonderful food!  I could never have an empty plate.  Her mother just kept loading it on.  Finally, I was able to say....NO MORE!  :)  Shortly after that, was in a food coma and went upstairs to bed.

Saturday, we slept in, had an awesome breakfast of cheese, sausage, bread, tea, sweets, etc.  You saw the picture earlier.  Then, off to Khiva we go with her brother and nephew.  Seriously, that place is cool.  I had my own tour guide.  They got in for free because they are residents...I didn't mind paying a whopping $9.00 for a ticket and tour guide.  The tour itself took a couple of hours, we also spent time shopping.  I bought lots of stuff...you'll see some later.  We got to her Aunties house, had lunch and watched a Russian movie...I actually understood the idea behind it...just not the words.  :)  I tried Liver for lunch. NOT my favorite, I choked down the two small pieces I took and hoped they wouldn't try to give me more....they didn't.  We headed back to her brothers and took naps, I finally woke up, SUNBURNED, around 9pm and again, we had dinner.  Went back to bed a couple hours later.  LOTS of eating!

Sunday, got up, had breakfast and headed out with her two little neices and her nephew to tour the immediate city.  They have some really nice parks and monuments to look at.  Shortly into the walk, one of the girls flip-flops totally fell apart!  Poor thing, but she wanted to keep walking because we were going to take them to the park to play and then to the bazaar to get new shoes for her.  And....ICE CREAM!  So, we kept walking and finally got to the park, then onto the Bazaar.  I so love those places....they take the place of my obsession for thrift stores.  We found her a cute pair of sandals and I bought each of the girls a pair of earrings.  I now have two "best friends" in Khiva, Uzbekistan.  They decided that I couldn't leave...then later on said I could, but when they were older and their English was better they want to come visit.  LOL.  Again, back home for naps and showers to get ready for the party..

I will continue the party in my next post....there's so much to go over!
